The media's godfathers (editors and editors-in-chief) must have smiled approvingly as Mark Latham genuflected and kissed their hands promising his full co-operation in getting rid any restrictions on filming in the Houses of Parliament.

We are thus assured that one of the most powerful and unaccountable groups in Australian society has free rein in degrading yet another of Australia's institutions for the sake of the big buck. Godfather supremo Rupert will be pleased.
