27 March 2010George Michael in gay abandon with an unknown boyfriendMelbourne's Herald-Sun (25 March) treated us to a photo of George Michael kissing an unknown boyfriend while enjoying Australia's late summer weather and the refreshing waters of Sydney's Pittwater. It is curious that only seven people commented on the photo and the accompanying report, all expressing their revulsion. On the same day when Neil Mitchell warily spoke about the photo on his radio program (693 3AW) all the callers in response took him to task for merely questioning its appropriateness. Actually, I think it was brave of Mitchell to even mention it. Gay groups are paranoid about any hint of criticism and go on the attack at the slightest provocation, as happened on this occasion. Naturally gays will denounce the people who made the comments on the Herald-Sun website as dangerous psychological misfits. Nevertheless, whatever the level of gay intimidation, I believe the majority of people feel the same way about homosexuality as the person who made the comment below. Gay groups should be careful of how far they go to shove their cause down the throats of ordinary people. The ordinary punter in the community is slow to respond to political oppression, particularly by way of unjust legislation, but when they do it can sometimes mean an excessive swing of the pendulum. update: George Michael uses men only dating site to find a mate
