Cardinal Bertone tells it the way it is: there is a clear link between homosexuality and clerical sexual abuse

Cardinal Bertone, Vatican Secretary of State, has sparked another furore around the world by claiming that there is a link between homosexuality and paedophilia. Hack reporters, editors and the usual 'expert' commentators have rushed to splutter their fury all over again. One Belgian newspaper exclaimed (online) in exasperation that the Vatican will never learn. That silly little country of unreflective political correctness, the one that spawned sex monster Marc Dutroux, wagging a sanctimonious finger at the Catholic Church...? Give us a break. Belgium looks even worse than Holland when it comes to anti-Catholic bigotry and political correctness. The language curtain ensures the silliness of that regressive country is not on international display.

Cardinal Bertone is right and he should be applauded for standing up to the media's lies and desperate political campaign. Statement of the statistical relation between homosexuality and clerical sexual abuse is long overdue. Here is the simple equation: If more than eighty percent of clerical abuse cases are about homosexual priests abusing pubescent males, and between 2 and 4 percent (according to research) of clergy are guilty of sexual abuse, then obviously clerical sexual abuse is largely a function of being a homosexual, and not of being a cleric. I am surprised that so many 'rationalist' atheists cannot follow this simple reasoning. Cardinal Bertone is supported by many formal studies.

In one of the few articles in the mainstream media defending the Pope and the Catholic Church Atheists line up to nail Catholics to the wall, Piers Akerman wrote (among other things): '...it is interesting to note that the same [mainstream] newspapers which are so easily outraged over the Catholic Church said nothing when it was revealed that the Mardi Gras organisation accepted contributions from the US paedophile lobby group NAMBLA [North America Man/Boy Love Association] in the 1990s.'
