The women fixated on killing the unborn child
Candy Broad is a member of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of
the State of Victoria. She is a member of the Labor Party which has been in
government for some years. Both heavy responsibilities that she takes
seriously.
She is now on the campaign of her life. Her resolute gritted-teeth
performance in interviews is a clear indication of her determination to see
her task through and survive the vicious attacks she knows she will be
subjected by ignorant, irrational people in her community, most of whom
subscribe to one or other pernicious religious superstition.
In her inner being she feels the injustice of the influence of these
unenlightened groups who, if real justice prevailed, would be disqualified
from having any influence in such a serious matter. But she must be
pragmatic and work around this unfortunate obstacle. She will keep her task
firmly in mind.
That task is to introduce a private member's bill 'on behalf of the
Association for the Legal Right to Abortion, a group of health
professionals and lawyers who have been lobbying for the
decriminalisation of [abortion] for years.'
On the track record of similar PC campaigns that have been waged
tenaciously and ferociously for incremental moves forward, Candy Broad
appears to be now in a position to achieve her task.
When victory comes, will she assemble those women who have been just as
tenacious in pushing aside all impediment to the killing of the unborn
child? Will they assemble of the parapet of Parliament House and raise their
glasses to their success in extending the killing fields? |
