27 October 2009Terrorists among the boat people? Only racists would say such a thing! When Liberal MP Wilson Tuckey recently suggested that terrorists could be hiding among the refugees arriving in Australian waters in their clapped-out boats, the sanctimonious indignation of Australia's dominant political class could scarcely be contained. There you are, what did we say about the depths to which those contemptible racists will go to blacken those poor people fleeing the conflicts in their region? Surely we (the dominant class) have to do something about those people who think nothing of contravening all those United Nations declarations on precisely the matter of refugee rights. And so the suggestion of a possible problem with allowing untrammelled access to Australia via profiteers and leaky boats has been seized upon yet again to advance the 'vision' of that class. But if we can escape the ideological smog for a moment, is there any empirical evidence to give Tuckey's modest suggestion any weight - any weight at all? Sad to say, I have to carry out the fruitless task of presenting evidence that will never be admitted in the courts of political correctness. Actually, I have already made note of the frustration tormenting ordinary Dutch people because their government appears paralysed in the face of the presence of 350 suspected war criminals among asylum seekers that have made their way into Holland through Europe's porous borders. You see, the European Court and their tangle of provisions and subsections have the Dutch government hog-tied. All this operates as a warning to those in Australia who have not succumbed to the fantasies of the dominant class. Not only can criminals and terrorists come hidden in the illegal refugee flow protected by profiteers, but once these people make it into Australia, the regulations of all sorts of UN treaties and agreements invoked by the dominant class will cripple the Australian government. Who does one think made up the signs the Afghanis are holding up in the picture below?
Afghanen demonstreren tegen de vervolging wegens oorlogsmisdaden It is difficult to make out what the obscured signs are saying. They are in Dutch which means that either the Afghani refugees have learned the relatively difficult Dutch language super quickly or the signs were written for them. I'll go for the second. The first seems to say: "We appeal for justice!" The second held by the man with the hood over his head seems to be accusing the Dutch Government asylum-seeker policy of contravening the International Human Rights Convention. January 2010 For those who think I am suffering from some sort of prejudice against refugees, let me state what should be obvious from the comments I make. It is not the refugees that is the problem; it is the policies and political manipulation of a class who have appointed themselves advocates for refugees and denounce any objection to their political fantasies as issuing from a lower moral order that should be silenced. The problem of refugees has caused a dilemma. Australia should not turn its back on people in real need; but we should not lack the courage to distinguish between people in trouble and those who are in reality migrants travelling by way of unscrupulous profiteers.
