The media assassination of Dr Peter Hollingworth: echoes of Nazi Germany and the Ku Klux Klan

Surely most people who see those frequently screened films of Adolf Hitler being publicly worshipped by ordinary Germans must wonder how they could have been fooled by such an evil man. The claim that the whole of the German population was similarly corrupt and evil is simply not credible. Likewise, how were the leaders of the Ku Klux Klan able to gain the support of so many in the white community for their murderous bigotry and seemingly justify it with an appeal to Christianity? There is nothing in Christianity that could be perverted to give even a scintilla of justice to such evil.

People can turn to the media assassination of former Governor-General, Dr Peter Hollingworth, to gain an insight into the processes of orchestrated community bigotry and hysteria leading to a public lynching.

Firstly, there has to be a group of sufficiently motivated people without a skerrick of moral consciousness and with the power to mould community attitudes and reactions. Then there has to be an army of willing lackeys who will prostitute their talents and abilities to those with the power. Next, there has to be a selection of unrelenting, uncompromising, unforgiving, embittered fanatics who will stop at nothing to have their vision of the world prevail. Finally, these groups come together to pump incessantly into the community the lies, distortions, deceptions and manipulations until the required level of community hysteria is reached and the chosen victim can be eliminated. All these elements were present in the media lynching of Dr Peter Hollingworth.

I refer the reader again to my two books, The Media of the Republic and The Telecard Affair: Diary of a Media Lynching. If I wrote up the media assassination of Dr Peter Hollingworth, I would simply be offering the same sort of evidence backed by the same arguments – evidence and arguments that have never been refuted by anyone in the media. These two books are the justification of the charges I continually level at the media bosses and the journalists who have sold their souls to their media Faustus.

One only has to review the events that have led to the elimination of Dr Hollingworth to see and put names to the manipulating demagogues, the corrupt organisations, the cowardly lackeys, the drooling fanatics and the grandstanding political manipulators. These are the people that have corrupted and will continue to corrupt Australia's democratic structures and processes.

Simon Crean and his Labor Party have forever lost all moral legitimacy. And to continue to give Hetty 'Brownshirt' Johnston all the air time she wishes is like appointing the Imperial Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan to oversee society's judicial processes. As for the morally rotten editor of Murdoch's (un-)Australian, he will continue to remain untouchable – except by Czar Rupert, of course.

Mourn Australia, mourn over the ascendancy of such evil.
