Government Minister Donner says goodbye to multicultural society

The Dutch government has announced a radical change to their multicultural policy. Like the German and British governments the Dutch government has admitted that multiculturalism in not only a failure, but harmful to a society that wants to maintain its essential nature and traditions. The following translated report is the from Elsevier Online. This dramatic change is a vindication of critics of multiculturalism. One hopes the multiculturalists will now shut their mouths. Of course, they won't. Questions of truth and falsehood have nothing to do with their political agenda.

The following is a translation of a report in Elsevier Online:

The Netherlands, Thursday 16 June 2011

Piet Hein Donner is klaar met het idee van een multiculturele samenleving

Minister Donner is finished with the idea
of a multicultural society

Piet Hein Donner, Minister for Home Affairs, wants a radical change to Dutch integration policy. Thus in the future Dutch society does not have to be responsible for the integration [of migrants], but the migrants themselves.

Donner made that known on Thursday in a letter to the Lower House. The letter is not yet online.

Values
In the new integration policy the values of Dutch society must be central, Donner wrote. In addition demands can be placed on immigrants. For example they must learn the language themselves and acquire knowledge about Dutch society.

With this undertaking the Cabinet has taken leave of multicultural society, the letter says. An integration policy with more obligations is necessary to prevent society growing apart. Integration policy will no longer be focussed on various groups.

Earlier Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Maxime Verhagen, Minister for Economic Affairs, spoke out against multicultural society. Rutte called it a 'buried experiment'.

Subsidies on stop
Various measures are announced in the letter. Subsidies and [special] measures for specific groups are stopped and become a component of the general integration policy.

Forced marriages will be tackled and a burqa prohibition will come on the first of January 2013. People have to be dealt with who hinder their chances in the employment market because of their behaviour or clothing.

At the same time the Cabinet wants to set up in cooperation with councils and civil organisations an agenda for 'contemporary citizenship'.
