Criminality and violence among ethnic youth in Holland

Elsevier Online had two reports in June about crime and violence among young men from ethnic backgrounds in The Netherlands. In the first under the heading "Shocking Crime figures Moroccans Rotterdam" (4 June 2009) we read:

Almost 55 percent of Moroccan men between the ages of 18 and 24 come into contact with the police in Rotterdam. The figure for local Dutch youth is 18.4 percent. The Volkskrant reports this on the basis of calculations by criminology professor Frank Bovenkerk who called the figures frightening.

As well he might. But it is not reported whether or not he was aware that that frightening situation had been building for years in Holland, as it has been in Australia. The report continues:

For Rotterdam youth from a Dutch Antilles and Surinam background in the same age category  the figure is 40 percent while for local Dutch youth it is 18.4 percent...

The report goes on to say that the way of calculating crime figures in migrant groups had been faulty, giving a less serious picture than really was the case. Bovenkerk explains why the calculations were faulty but, again, does not tell us why nobody cottoned on to it before this.

Let me suggest that the multiculturalist agenda and PC sensibilities about ethnic groups might be why, as it clearly is the reason in Australia that efforts are made to suppress crime figures about African and Middle Eastern youth.

Not doubt the PC class in Australia would be shocked to the core about such openness, denouncing everyone as despicable racists right down to the receptionist who had anything to do with making this information public. Stick and stones... Australia is on the same road as Holland, just some way behind at the moment. It will be forced in the end to have a good look at the harsh reality of young male violence, including its ethnic aspect.

The second report (25 June 2009) is about the major government party (CDA) claiming that "ethnic youth gangs have to go into group therapy." Sounds mad? But how mad is it?

Groups of ethnic youth who misbehave in residential areas must be collectively dealt with, as far as the CDA is concerned. The gang members are taken into custody and then off to a youth establishment where they will undergo six months therapy...  This action plan has been hit upon for dealing with the worst of the non-Western young gangs...
According to [the CDA spokeswoman] there will be no success in breaking through the street culture if one only deals with the individual.

An extreme situation calls for extreme measures, a lesson that appears to being slowly learned by the dominant political class in Holland, though most ordinary people have been screaming for years - which of course accounts for the sky-rocketing popularity of first Pim Fortyun and now Geert Wilders and the PVV.

Whether or not putting delinquents into group therapy will work, I would not know. As mad as it sounds, it is at this moment the best suggestion I've heard from government. What I am certain of is that the principal origin of young male violence, whether in Holland or Australia, local or ethnic, is the corrupt education that Western societies are putting their youth through.
