28 December 2008A Merry Christmas and a Happy New YearThere has been a long break in my comments. The reason is that I am in the last phase of completing the first draught of SCREWING A DEAL: A SATIRE IN THE STYLE OF EVELYN WAUGH. Bringing the different strands of a novel to its conclusion is a difficult task, requiring dedication and concentration to the exclusion of just about every other mind activity. But the end is in sight - a question of a few pages more and a tidy-up before I pass the draught on to several people who have generously agreed to read and comment on it. Much has happened during the year for Christians and social/political conservatives to comment on. I have commented only on a small number of events and issues of many I could have written pages about. But if asked to choose the most shocking, the most corrupting, and the most evil event in Australia this year it would be without doubt the vote by the Parliament of the State of Victoria to kill at wish and whim the most defenceless person in our society: the unborn child. There was no more appalling scene than the parade of the Parliament's feminist ghouls as they assembled, after the successful vote, clapping and cheering around Joan Kirner, former State Premier, whose compassion is made up of the ripped-apart bodies of the unborn. The Victorian State Parliament has delegitimised itself. It has made itself into a robber parliament with little regard for truth and justice - just the subversive pursuit of their ideological goals. History records that 76% of women in that robber parliament voted to kill the unborn child. Christmas is a time of joy and the new year is a time of new resolution. The baby in the straw-filled manger in a cave in Bethlehem and the angels singing "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men of good will" is incentive to make the right resolutions, determined by a proper understanding of truth and justice. The photo below is of me on one of the few occasions at Christmas eve dinner when I managed successfully to flame the plum pudding. The scene speaks for itself and provides an appropriate image to end this year.
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
